Please make sure you let us know as soon as possible when you change your:
•name
•address
•phone number
•email address
If we do not hold the correct information then we may make your account dormant to protect both of us.
We recommend that you check your passbook regularly. If there is an entry which seems to be wrong, then tell us as soon as possible so that it can be sorted out.
The care of your passbooks, cheques and other security information is vital in helping to prevent fraud and to protect your accounts.
•Never give your account details or other security information to anyone; unless you know who they are and why they need them.
•Keep information about your account containing personal details (for example your mortgage statement) safe and dispose of them carefully.
•You should shred printed material containing information about your accounts. People who commit fraud use many methods including ‘bin raiding’ to get hold of this sort of information.
What to do if you think your passbook has been lost or stolen or if someone else knows any of your security information
You must tell us as soon as possible if you think your passbook is lost or stolen.
You must also tell us if someone else knows any of your security information i.e. your account number etc.
You can tell us about it by visiting the branch or by phoning us.
Please note – if you lose your passbook there will be a small fee to pay for a replacement.
Additional information
Cheques – If you are paying a cheque into your account, do not simply make the cheque payable to us. Add further details in the payee line i.e. A Smith, account number xxxxxx. Draw a line through any space you don’t use on the cheque so unauthorised people cannot add extra numbers or names. Your cheque is likely to be returned if made payable to just the Tipton & Coseley B.S. When paying a cheque into your account it is better to make it payable to yourself.
Bank accounts - if you hold accounts with any banks, then regularly check on your direct debits and standing orders; this will help you to make sure that your money is going where you want it to.
