Quality Assurance Associate (Lending)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Mortgage team as a Quality Assurance Associate (QAA). CeMAP qualification is essential for this role. As a key member of the team, you will help ensure that mortgage underwriting decisions are made consistently and in line with organisational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
Through quality assurance reviews of mortgage applications and customer interactions, including calls handled by the Financial Support Team, you will provide valuable first-line oversight, identify areas for improvement and support the delivery of fair customer outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with strong mortgage knowledge, excellent attention to detail and a passion for maintaining high quality standards across the customer journey.
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Location: Head office based in Tipton. The Society is able to offer hybrid working, following successful completion of an initial probationary period, you would be able to work 2 to 3 days at home each week.
Hours: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm
In this role you will:
- Review and recommend quality assurance gradings within the scope of the T&C plan.
- Ensuring decisions are within policy limits and are documented and supported with rationale, where required or out of policy for new mortgage business.

- Maintain an accurate log of all sampling activities to provide an audit trail.
- Identifying and highlighting trends, errors and discrepancies in underwriting or financial support processes to share with the Head of Lending and Financial Support Manager, making recommendations for change/improvement.
- Preparing reports for management identifying areas for improvement.
- Call monitoring to ensure correct procedures being followed.
- Manage own workload to achieve set targets.
To be successful you will have:
- Able to demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements for the mortgage market.
- Able to demonstrate good judgement and self-sufficiency to enable sound decision making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a confident and proactive approach.
- Ability to build effective relationships quickly and easily.
- Experience of giving feedback and coaching to achieve performance improvement.
- Competent use of various IT packages including MS Office suite.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to manage own time to deliver required number of case reviews and to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to communicate at all levels with professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications & Experience:
- CeMAP qualified.
- Have at least 12 months’ experience of conducting QA in an FCA regulated environment or have held a mortgage lending mandate in underwriting capacity.
