Test Analyst

We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Test Analyst to join our IT team to support the delivery of the Core Banking and Digital Transformation programme by preparing, executing and evidencing testing activities across assigned project workstreams. The role will work with the Test Lead, Business SMEs, suppliers and project teams to validate that changes meet agreed requirements, business processes and expected outcomes before release.

The Test Analyst will:

  • Review requirements, change documentation, business processes and acceptance criteria to understand test scope.
  • Prepare test scenarios, test cases and test data in line with the agreed Test Strategy and project Test Approach.
  • Execute assigned test cases across SIT, UAT, regression, API validation and business validation activities as required.
  • Support API testing activities, including validating request/response. behaviour, key field mapping, status codes, error handling and integration outcomes where applicable.
  • Record clear test evidence, actual results and execution status in the agreed test management tool or project repository.
  • Raise defects with sufficient detail, including steps to reproduce, screenshots/evidence, severity, priority and business impact.
  • Support defect retesting and risk-based regression testing following fixes.
  • Work with Business SMEs to support UAT execution and evidence capture.
  • Support validation of reports, documents, outputs, interfaces, APIs, batch outputs and business process outcomes.
  • Attend test meetings, defect triage sessions and progress reviews as required.
  • Escalate blockers, environment issues, data issues and test execution risks to the Test Lead.
  • Follow the agreed defect management, test evidence, data handling and governance process.

To be considered for the Test Analyst role you will:

  • Advanced ISTQB certification or strong demonstrable equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience of Mortgage and Savings processes.
  • Experience of software testing within project delivery, business change or technology change.
  • Understanding of the test lifecycle, test case preparation, execution, evidence capture and defect management.
  • Experience of functional testing, UAT testing, regression testing and interface/API testing would be beneficial.
  • Ability to understand business processes and translate them into test scenarios and test cases.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to produce clear, auditable test evidence.
  • Experience of Jira, Azure DevOps, test management tools, Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, SoapUI or similar tools would be beneficial.
  • Financial services, mortgage, savings, digital banking or core banking experience would be desirable.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
  • High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate.
  • A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and project management systems.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Hours: Permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week 
Location: Head office based in Tipton. The Society is able to offer hybrid working, following successful completion of an initial probationary period, you would be able to work 2 to 3 days at home each week.
