Gearing up for a milestone year

Plans are taking shape for a year of celebration, as the Tipton prepares for a major anniversary.

It was in 1901 when the Tipton & District Permanent Building Society was founded, with the first subscription meeting held right in the heart of the town on Owen Street.

Some 125 years later, we’re still on Owen Street – albeit in a different building – and we’re still going strong.

Now called the Tipton & Coseley Building Society, in recognition of the wider communities we serve, we’ll be sharing the occasion with those who matter most, our customers and our colleagues.

There will be activities spread throughout 2026, including anniversary events, branch displays, snippets from our history, fundraising for our charity of the year, and more.

We’ve created a commemorative logo and our 125 year milestone will be a central theme at the 2026 Annual General Meeting, taking place in April.

Adam Evetts, the Tipton’s Chief Executive, said: “After celebrating 250 years of the building society movement in 2025, we’re delighted to reach our own incredible milestone and reflect on how the Tipton has supported multiple generations of savers and homeowners.

“Our Society is here to help customers achieve their most important financial goals and have a positive impact on everyone we interact with.

“We’re deeply proud of our heritage and excited about our plans for the future, which will see the Tipton continue to grow and thrive as an independent building society firmly rooted in the Black Country.”
